Hunger levels are rising in Gaza, with 1.1 million people facing catastrophic levels of food insecurity.
On Wednesday, a Qatari military aid aircraft destined for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip landed in the Egyptian city of El Arish, carrying 11 tons of aid, including food from the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS).
Wednesday's handover is the 94th in a series of Qatari aircraft sent to address the alarming situation of the Palestinian people as Israeli massacres continue in the besieged Strip.
Qatar has been at the forefront of humanitarian efforts in the Gaza Strip since Israel resumed indiscriminate attacks against the enclave on October 7, 2023.
QRCS alone has performed more than 1,800 surgeries in Gaza, lending a helping hand to the collapsed local health sector during the ongoing Israeli war in the Gaza Strip.
Surgery involves stopping the bleeding, repairing the lungs, and repairing the diaphragm wall. This is in addition to direct surgery on the heart, esophagus, and blood vessels. The QRCS team also provides psychological treatment services to victims.
The Qatari organization's efforts fall under the Gulf state's broader mission to treat the injured in Gaza and alleviate their suffering.
Qatar's Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani announced on December 3, 2023, an initiative to support 3,000 orphans and treat 1,500 injured Palestinians in the Strip.
Wednesday's humanitarian aid operation also took place as the Turkiye Qatar Gaza Goodwill Ship departed from Turkey's Mersin International Port to El Arish carrying 1,908 tons of vital humanitarian aid for the besieged enclave. .
The ship is carrying 1,358 tons of aid provided by the Qatar Development Fund and 550 tons donated by Turkiye Presidency for Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD).
The Gaza Strip has been under a complete blockade by Israel since the genocidal war began on October 7, 2023. Since then, Israel has killed more than 34,800 people and displaced more than 85 percent of its population.
At least 31 children have also died in Gaza due to severe malnutrition and dehydration due to lack of basic resources and aid, according to a United Nations bulletin on Wednesday.
Israel's land invasion on Tuesday completely blocked aid from entering the country and also prevented thousands of people waiting for emergency evacuation from leaving Gaza.
Hunger levels are rising, with 1.1 million people facing catastrophic levels of food insecurity.
Israeli attacks on hospitals and blocking access to basic resources have forced the closure of more than half of Gaza's medical facilities. According to the United Nations, there are now 12 partially functioning hospitals in Gaza, out of an original 36.
Among the closed hospitals is Al-Shifa Medical Complex, the largest medical facility in Gaza and one of the most important in all of Palestine.
