The trial of former Migori County Governor Okoth Obado and two other defendants in the murder of Sharon Otieno will proceed today at the Milimani High Court.
Obado and his co-defendants will appear before Judge Cecilia Guitua, with prosecution witness Chief Inspector Nicolas Ole Sena of the Major Crimes Unit at DCI Headquarters continuing to testify.
Two additional witnesses are expected to testify in the case.
On Tuesday, witnesses showed a court photo exhibit of the murder scene. He told the court that investigation and interrogation of Okoth Obado and his then personal assistant, Michael Oyamo, revealed that the two were well known to the deceased.
Witnesses further told the court that the deceased's body showed that she was pregnant and that the body had visible scars from a knife cut on the left side near the heart.
The court also confirmed that after the death of Sharon and her unborn child, a doctor determined that Sharon was seven months pregnant and that the cause of death was severe hemorrhage due to trauma from a sharp object.
He added that there were signs of strangulation, but in the case of the fetus it was due to abdominal trauma with a sharp object.
The witness also told the court that DNA tests showed 99.99% that Okoth Obado was the father of Sharon Otieno's unborn child.
