A massive fire broke out at a factory in the Italian city of Bolzano on Wednesday. The fire broke out in the morning at the Alpitronic factory, which manufactures fast-charging stations for electric vehicles. Videos shared on social media show large plumes of smoke almost completely clouding the sky.
A post accompanying the video shared that the skies over Bolzano will be closed for the time being, while residents are asked to keep their windows closed. In the meantime, firefighters from Bolzano and neighboring regions and engineers from the Environment Agency are sent to bring the situation under control. “Alpitronic guarantees that its operations have not been affected by the recent fire.Damage occurred in part of the “Rolin” warehouse during maintenance, but production, research, development and administrative functions remain intact. had no effect. “Employees at nearby offices are safe and will be working remotely temporarily,” the tweet added.
Bolzano, in northern Italy, is a major tourist destination and a stopover for those heading to the famous Dolomites mountains.
Local media reported that the flames started on the roof of the factory and quickly spread, forming a huge black cloud that could be seen from several kilometers away. The cause of the fire is not yet known, but no injuries or deaths have been reported so far.
In an update cited by Express.co.uk, Alpitronic said the factory's operations were not affected as the damage only affected part of the warehouse which was under maintenance and not in use. “At this time, we cannot reveal the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage.”
