The Guiyang-Laos tourist train will be launched on May 8, marking a crucial step in promoting tourism and cultural ties between China and Southeast Asia.
The rail service, which connects Guiyang City in China's Guizhou Province to Laos' capital Vientiane, is expected to act as a catalyst for tourism development in the entire region.
Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as shower facilities, charging stations and entertainment options such as karaoke and coffee shops, it aims to offer passengers a luxurious travel experience.
Visitors to Guizhou can book an eight-day excursion through local travel agents or digital platforms. This itinerary includes stops at notable destinations in Laos, including Vientiane, Vang Vieng, Luang Prabang, and the majestic Kwan Si Waterfall.
To accommodate tourists from Southeast Asia, new itinerary options tailored to exploring Guizhou will also be introduced.
Guizhou is China's third largest province after Yunnan, and its capital, Beijing, provides trains that connect Laos and China's railway systems.
According to recent data from the Lao-China Railway Company, approximately 150,000 tourists and more than 8 million tons of goods from 87 countries and regions have crossed the border since the start of cross-border train operations in April 2023.
